LTB 004/17 – BT Wholesale & Ventures: Managed Services Organisation (MSO) – KCOM Managed Service Contract to end

No. 004/2018

5 January 2018

TO ALL BRANCHES WITH MEMBERS IN BT

Dear Colleagues

BT Wholesale & Ventures: Managed Services Organisation (MSO) – KCOM Managed Service Contract to end

BT Managed Services Organisation (BT MSO) previously known as BT Managed Services Limited (BT MSL) advised the CWU and subsequently all the BT MSO staff that the KCOM contract was to be terminated on 31st March 2018.

KCOM have decided to exercise its ‘terminate for convenience’ option for its Horizon contract with BT MSO that expires on 31st March 2019. BT and KCOM had been working on a revised version of Horizon looking at a range of pricing options but KCOM have decided to submit a contract termination notice and its current plan is to in-source the work from 1st April 2018. Both BT and KCOM are stating that they are committed to ensuring that the transfer of people, assets and systems supporting the managed service, is undertaken as carefully as possible. They have stated that TUPE will apply and all staff were advised of the situation on an ‘All Hands Call’ in early December.

Management took the decision to report the situation to all staff as early as possible and therefore more information will be available within middle to late January.

These members only TUPEd into BT plc on 1st August 2017 and will, in the main have undergone a varying number of TUPEs to get to this position. Clearly this will be unsettling for many and branches are urged to make contact with their BT MSO members and offer support.

We will be working with BT Management to support the transfer and will share more information as it becomes available.

Yours sincerely,

Brendan O’Brien

Assistant Secretary
