UPDATED JOINT COMMUNICATION ROYAL MAIL AND CWU REGARDING THE JOINT REVIEW OF ACTIVITY VALUE ANALYSIS (AVA) IN PROCESSING AND ADMIN

Processing Bookroom Strand

Dear Colleagues

Branches and representatives will be aware that LTB 286/17 relayed the details in regard to the Joint Communication by Royal Mail and the CWU Regarding the Joint Review of Activity Value Analysis (AVA) – Processing Bookroom Strand and how this activity would be progressed.

Following the commencement of the local activity the CWU became aware that an un-agreed document known as the Optimum Resourcing Index, had been circulated by the business. The department therefore contacted all Area Processing and Divisional Representatives to advise them that the AVA Processing Bookroom activity should be paused until a resolution to the issues concerned were achieved with the business at National level.

Discussions have now concluded and the business has withdrawn the un-agreed document and agreed that there will be no predetermined outcomes in relation to the AVA Processing Bookroom activity.

An updated Joint Communication has therefore been concluded confirming the agreed position in order to enable the AVA Processing Bookroom activity to recommence. A copy of the document is attached for your information.

Branches and representatives are now informed that it is confirmed that the local AVA Processing Bookroom activity can resume with immediate effect. Activity should continue to be progressed in line with the agreed process and principles. Colleagues are requested to bring any deviation from the agreed process to the attention of the department as a matter of urgency.

Any enquiries in relation to this LTB should be addressed to Davie Robertson, Assistant Secretary, email: dwyatt@cwu.org or shayman@cwu.org quoting reference number: 052.

Yours sincerely

Davie Robertson

Assistant Secretary
