Karen Rose

Deputy General Secretary (Telecoms & Financial Services)

As deputy general secretary, Karen is the senior national officer for nearly 60,000 hard-working Telecoms and Financial Services members of the union. 

Karen, from Pontypridd in South Wales, was elected as deputy general secretary (DGS) of the CWU’s Telecoms & Financial Constituency in 2023 and took office after her predecessor Andy Kerr’s retirement in April 2024.

An activist in the union since the 1990s, serving as a workplace and branch representative, Karen was elected to the union’s T&FS Executive in 2002, becoming its chair in 2008 and serving as the CWU’s president and vice-president.
