Santander Pay Award 2022 – Final Offer – Issue No. 01/2022
Issue No. 01/2022 | 06 January 2022
TO ALL BRANCHES WITH SANTANDER MEMBERS
Dear Colleague
Santander Pay Award 2022 – Final Offer
Following intense negotiations with the Bank on the 2022 Pay Review the CWU National Team are now in a position to strongly recommend to the membership the final offer which is detailed below and is effective from 01 March 2022.
Background & CWU Objectives
Against a backdrop of the Bank achieving strong quarter three 2021 financial results, tempered with a number of financial and commercial challenges to deliver transformation and remain competitive, it has been the objective of the CWU to negotiate a flat rate increase that rewards all colleagues in Bands S1–S5 and equivalent grades (including colleagues in Santander Technology).
It has also been the objective of the Union to negotiate a recognition payment that recognises the contribution that our members have made over the last 12 months.
Main Elements of Offer
- All eligible colleagues to receive a flat rate award of £1000 consolidated for those within pay range and non-consolidated for those above their pay range. For those colleagues in Santander technology the £1000 payments will be consolidated into their salaries.
- Where the £1000 increase in part takes a colleague over the maximum of their pay range, the award will be split into consolidated and non-consolidated as appropriate.
- The increase will be pro-rated (consolidated and non-consolidated) for part-timers. Colleagues eligible for pay progression will receive the £1,000 award if higher.
- Any pay-related allowances, such as overtime, will be recalculated in line with any increase in salary.
- Whilst performance is not a determining factor this offer excludes colleagues with a 2021 performance rating of ‘Not Achieved’. However, those that subsequently complete a documented coaching plan by 01 August 2022 will receive a pro-rated pay increase effective from September 2022 pay.
- Colleagues must have been employed on or before 01 November 2021 and still be employed on 01 March 2022 to be eligible for the Pay Review.
- In recognition of the outstanding contribution of colleagues during 2021 a one-off non-consolidated cash (gross) payment of £250 for all colleagues payable to those employed on 31 December 2021 and who are still employed at the point of payment in February 2022.
- Those employed on 31 December 2021 and who subsequently leave by reason of redundancy or retirement before the payment dates will also be eligible for the one-off non-consolidated cash (gross) payment of £250.
Pay Ranges
- An Increase to S1/G1 and S2/G2 salary ranges and midpoints of 2%.
- A commitment secured by the CWU for a joint review of the S1 and S2 pay ranges during 2022, ahead of the 2023 pay negotiations.
Increases to the Minimum Salary
- The minimum full-time entry salaries for S1 P1 will increase from 01 March 2022 from £17,370 per annum to £18,520 per annum.
Non-Pay Related Allowances
- An increase of 2% to the ALCB Shift allowances (Shift Types 1,2, 3 and 4). All other remaining allowances remain unchanged.
Family Leave
- An increase of paid maternity leave from 20 weeks to 23 weeks
- This increase will also apply to Adoption Leave and Shared Parental Leave.
- An increase to Paternity leave to extend the fully paid period from 4 weeks to 5 weeks.
These arrangements will apply to colleagues with an Expected Week of Childbirth (EWC) – or The Matching Week – in the case of adoption – on or after 26 February 2022.
