Communications Department

Salary £57,162 per annum (pensionable £53,829) (Group 4)

The Communications Department is dedicated to keeping members, activists and the public – through internal, external and media communications – up to date with the CWU’s activities and supporting the union’s industrial communications.

An exciting opportunity has opened for the role of Publications Editor providing senior level support to the Head of Communications to deliver high quality written literature and publications for the CWU.

The successful applicant will:

  • have knowledge of the industrial sectors the CWU represent members in and the CWU’s industrial and political aims
  • have a broad understanding of the print, digital and broadcast media.
  • have experience of modern communication tools including podcasts, video and social media
  • have exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with the ability to work independently as well as collaborate as part of a team and facilitate writers and contributors to deliver excellence.
  • have excellent skills in communication, organisation, research and the ability to provide high quality interpersonal, verbal and most importantly written material in order to deliver information and support for our members.
  • have excellent IT skills and a technical aptitude to navigate different digital platforms.

The role is permanent, full time and based at our HQ in Wimbledon.  The post-holder will be expected to travel within the UK as required on occasion but will benefit from our hybrid working arrangements.
