Policy Assistant to the Outdoor Assistant Secretary
Postal Department
Following the election of Tony Bouch to the role of Assistant Secretary in the Outdoor section of the Postal Department, the post of Policy Assistant is being advertised on a permanent basis.
Policy Assistant – Group 4 – Salary £57,162 per annum (pensionable £53,829)
The role requires excellent skills in communication, organisation, research and ability to provide support and assistance to the Assistant Secretary with responsibility for CWU members in Royal Mail Delivery and Romec Cleaners.
We are looking for the post holder to have knowledge of the business’ personnel procedures, terms and conditions relating to the sections represented and not less than 2-3 years of relevant experience within the trade union movement.
The post holder will have a demonstratable record and knowledge of the postal industry and the current issues facing the labour movement as well as the ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of the Officer’s role and responsibilities.
You will be expected to be involved in the smooth operation of the section on a day-to-day basis, preparing documents, reports, minutes and briefs to a high standard and giving advice on all Royal Mail Delivery issues.
The role is permanent, full time and based at our HQ in Wimbledon.
